Request a contract

Anyone can ask for these records

Texas Government Code chapter 552, the Public Information Act, makes government contracts public. You do not have to say why you want them, and you do not have to be a journalist or a resident. Pick a body below and we will write the letter.

The clock

A body must produce the records promptly. If it needs more than ten business days it has to tell you in writing with a date, and if it wants to withhold anything it has ten business days to ask the Attorney General for a ruling. We track that clock for every request generated here and show the due date on the entity page.

How the generator works

Two ways to send it

Either path produces the same letter. The letter names the executed agreement, the pricing exhibits, any third party administrator agreement, and the most recent reconciliation report, so it is specific enough to be hard to refuse.

Copy and send it yourself

No account needed. Fill in your name and mailing address in the browser, copy the letter, and email it to the body's public information address or paste it into their portal. We record only that a request went out and when it is due, never your details.

Have us send it

Sign in and we email the letter from our records alias with you in copy and as reply to, so the body's answer lands in your inbox as well as ours. You can update the status as replies arrive, and we log the follow up and Attorney General complaint dates for you.

We are not lawyers and this is not legal advice. The letter is a plain request under chapter 552 that you send in your own name.

First wave

Start with these bodies

These are the plans that cover the most Texans, so their contracts move the most money. Some bodies take requests only through a portal or by mail, which the letter page will tell you before you send.

Everything else we track

Other bodies in the library

After you send it

Send us the production when it arrives and we will publish the document, score it against the rubric, and credit the request in the timeline without naming you. If the body misses its deadline or withholds the pricing exhibits, the follow up letter and the Attorney General complaint are generated the same way.

The model contract we score against is the open source PBM contract published by Mark Cuban and collaborators, version 3.5. BetterBuy Rx did not write it and is not affiliated with its authors. Read the original on LinkedIn.
