Prescription Assistance & Savings by State
Prescription help works differently in every state. This directory covers what is actually available where you live, with direct links to each program so you can verify eligibility yourself.
Most prescription assistance is a mix of federal and state programs. Federal help — Medicare Extra Help, the Medicaid drug benefit, and the Medicare Part D out-of-pocket cap — applies everywhere. On top of that, many states run their own State Pharmaceutical Assistance Programs (SPAPs) and set insulin copay caps for state-regulated health plans. Not every state has an SPAP, so each page below tells you plainly what does and does not exist in that state.
Whatever your coverage, comparing the cash and discount price of your medication is a useful check — it tells you how much a coverage gap is really costing you. Program details and copay caps change, so always confirm current rules with the linked state and federal sources.
