Antiepileptic drug safety warning
Antiepileptic drugs (AEDs), including this medication, increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behavior in patients taking them for any indication — not just epilepsy. Anyone starting or already taking an AED should be monitored for new or worsening depression, suicidal thoughts or behavior, or any unusual changes in mood. Contact your prescriber right away, or call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), if these occur. Do not stop an AED abruptly without medical guidance — sudden discontinuation can trigger withdrawal seizures.
